STUD FARM LIPICA

The Stud Farm Lipica is the cradle of the Lipizzaner breed of horses and one of the oldest stud farms in the world. It offers visitors various oppotunties and programmes for learning about Lipizzaners and its heritage, while the beautifully managed estate is now also open for independent tours using a mobile application.

KARST CULTURAL RING

On the route we see the homes of artists, explore galleries and numerous museum collections, and visit churches with impressive frescoes. The Karst Cultural Ring route is intended for all cyclists and art lovers.

 

We racommend:

- The Maks Fabiani exhibition and the Lojze Spacal Gallery in Štanjel, the Avgust Černigoj Gallery in Lipica, Srečko Kosovel's homestead in Tomaj and the room in which he was born in Sežana, and the Museum of Slovenian Film Actors in Divača.

 

 

MUSEUM OF SLOVENIAN FILM ACTORS, DIVAČA

The Škrateljn homestead originates from the 17th century and is considered the oldest preserved karst homestead. Today it houses and exhibition dedicated to Slovenian film actors and an exhibition dedicated to the first Slovenian film star, Ita Rina.

ŠTANJEL

The rows of stone houses, narrow streets and small squares, with prominent stone wells in the centre, give the settlement a special charm of the past. In Štanjel you can visit the Lojze Spacal Gallery, the Maks Fabiani exhibition, the ethnological collection in the Karst House etc.

The Ferrari Garden with its water supply system, the work of architect Maks Fabiani, has also left a special mark on Štanjel.

THE ŠKOCJAN CAVES PARK

Is a protected area situated in the Classical Karst. Due to their exceptional natural and cultural heritage, the Škocjan Caves have been on UNESCO's list of world heritage sites since 1986, on the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance since 1999 and are since 2004 included as the Karst Biosphere Region under the MAB Programme.
